When to call 911...

Always!

You here it called 911 “Emergency”, but the city of Atlanta has no other number to call... it really should be called 911 “Dispatch”. Every member of the police department that I have heard speak to a group has emphasized that the public should call 911 for EVERY non administrative issue.

Just because you call 911 for something you think is not an “emergency” does not mean that you will be taking away resources from more critical situations. Calls are prioritized and officers are not dispatched on a first come first serve basis, give them some credit. It may take awhile to get an officer on site, but make the call. It helps direct resources towards our neighborhood and helps the police petition the city for resources. So... suspicious person, suspicious car, call 911, go with your gut instinct.
